Clorox bleach was losing with younger consumers. It needed a modern, approachable form. Plus, a competitor was acting on the same opportunity.

the consumer problem

Younger consumers yearned for more control of their bleach experience. They wanted to "turn it off and on", so that it wouldn't ruin things. They also wanted it shipped to their door. None of that was possible with liquid bleach. 

the solution

Using Design Thinking techniques, the team conceptualized and commercialized water-activated bleach crystals, on expedited timing, and optimized the proposition for e-commerce.

Today, it is one of the company's strongest performers on Amazon.

The challenge

Declines in household penetration for Hunt's tomatoes revealed a critical problem: scratch-cooked Italian dishes were losing relevance.

The consumer problem

Millennials rely heavily on mobile technology for recipe inspiration, so Italian food had to win online.  

They also aspired to global citizenship, proudly tackling the world's cuisine...as long as it came with online videos.

the solution

The team partnered with celebrity chefs to create and promote modern recipes online with Hunt's products. Giada de Laurentis kept Italian cooking relevant, while Rick Bayless, of Chicago's famous Frontera chain, linked Hunt's to authentic Mexican cuisine.

Packaged lunch meat has baggage, from its slimy texture to its unflattering comparison to fresh sliced deli meat.

Also, more than ever, consumers wanted protein-rich snacks, salad toppings, and wrap fillings.
